Daniele Santos of Wilton Manors, Florida was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his 68-year-old mother following a verbal argument, news sources report. Santos, 36, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on charges of battery on a person over the age of 65. A judge ordered that he be held on $10,000 bail bond. It is currently unclear whether Santos has hired a criminal defense lawyer.
According to reports, the victim moved from New York to Wilton Manors to live with Santos some time before the incident occurred. Sources say the victim had been trying to get Santos to stop abusing alcohol and drugs. Santos's partner had been living at the home as well, but she reportedly broke up with him after the move.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, according to reports. Santos allegedly went home drunk and accused the victim of breaking up his relationship with his partner. Santos reportedly pulled the victim's arm behind her back, shoved her to the floor, and struck her in the back of the head with his fist.
During a court hearing later, a Broward County Judge told the victim, "I'm worried about you," and ordered that Santos keep 500 feet away from the victim at all times and wear a GPS monitor if he is released on bail. Santos became frustrated and tried leaving the courtroom, at which point the judge purportedly said, "You're pushing the court's patience. I'm going to draw the line right now."
Santos was not the only South Florida Resident arrested for battery this past week. Amber Vashiti Jackson of Delray Beach was arrested Sunday after she was accused of attacking a woman on two separate occasions, reports say. During one of the attacks, Jackson reportedly bit the victim several times. Jackson, 22, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and child abuse. Her bail was set at $13,000. It is unclear whether Jackson has hired legal representation.
According to reports, the first assault occurred on Friday outside of a party, at which the victim was a guest. The victim was in her car when Jackson reportedly showed up and tossed a drink into the victim's vehicle. The victim exited her car to speak with Jackson, but Jackson attempted to hit the victim with a glass bottle, reports say. A physical altercation ensued and Jackson allegedly bit the victim on the face, neck, and chest.
The next day, the victim was at her gated community home in the in the 600 block of Auburn Avenue when she saw Jackson and several other women outside. Afraid, the victim waited until Jackson and the other women left before she went outside. However, the victim was reportedly unable to avoid another confrontation: the group, including Jackson, reportedly approached the victim when she returned to her home with her son and his four friends.
Some women attempted to block the victim in the parking lot with their cars, while others began pounding on the victim's vehicle with fists and bats. Jackson, who was allegedly wielding a tire iron, said to the victim, "I'm going to kill you." It is not clear what the victim had done to anger the perpetrators.
The victim maneuvered around the cars, accidently striking one, as she fled the scene. The victim then left her children in the care of a friend and drove to the police department to report the attack.
